Caramelized Pecan Bars

 

Hands down this is our favorite pecan cookie. Caramelized with honey, a smidgeon of molasses and cream makes these extra special. Serve at your finest occasions.

 

Ingredients:

 

12 Tablespoons butter

1/4 cup sugar

2 cups all purpose flour

1/2 tsp kosher salt

1  1/2 sticks unsalted butter

1/2 cup honey

1 tsp molasses

1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar

1/4 tsp kosher salt

3 cups pecans

1/4 cup heavy cream

                                                                                                                                  Preheat oven to 375º

1.  Make the crust by mixing the first 4 ingredients together until it forms a loose ball. Press the dough        into a parchment lined 9”x13” baking pan.  Pre-bake in oven for10 minutes at 375º.

2.   In the meantime, heat the sugar, butter, honey and molasses in a saucepan over medium heat until         the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil and add pecans and heavy cream, the mixture will boil.           

3.  Pour pecan mixture over pastry and bake at 375º for approximately 25 minutes or until you have a          deep golden brown bubbly filling.

     Cool completely. Cut into even 1 1/2 “ squares.

     Store in an airtight container
